Sabrena Gillis is a West Virginia attorney with extensive experience in insurance coverage cases, insurance bad faith, complaints before the West Virginia Offices of the Insurance Commissioner, construction and engineering law, and more recently, equine law.
Sabrena has nearly 30 years of legal experience, including here at the West Virginia law firm Shaffer & Shaffer since 2005.
Sabrena is a trusted advisor and an accomplished litigation attorney who has successfully tried dozens of civil cases to verdict. She has also tried numerous administrative hearings over insurance matters, similar to trials.
Sabrena has always been moved by how resilient and courageous West Virginians are when they face difficult times.
From a young age, Sabrena wanted to be a lawyer so she could help people solve the problems they face. Sabrena’s inspiration was a respected female attorney in her hometown—Williamson, WV—whom she met when she was still in grade school.
Sabrena believes in building relationships with her clients, working closely together. She has a particular skill for navigating difficult cases—involving tough litigation tactics and personality clashes—so the issues can keep moving toward resolution.
Practicing law in West Virginia isn’t a “9 to 5” job to Sabrena. “Whatever amount of work a project requires is what I will do,” she says. “I care about my clients and the quality of the work I provide.”
